Cooper Discoverer STT & Toyo Open Country M/T

I was told Cooper Discoverer STT & Toyo Open Country M/T tires are made from the same mold and read in one of the postings here Toyos (and several others) are produced in the Cooper factory.

Any truth to that? Any difference in construction or compound between these two tires?

Thanks!

Re: Cooper Discoverer STT & Toyo Open Country M/T

Here is the Cooper

and here is the Toyo

The actual tread looks pretty similar, but the shoulder and side walls are different looking. only a few little differences.
I have also heard that cooper makes the Toyo, as well as the procomp tires. Not sure if it is true or not, but thats what I have heard. Personally I am going with the Toyo MT. I just wish they made a 255/85/r16 size.

The Cooper Discoverer STT and the Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ share the same tread pattern. Except the MTZ's have a more aggressive side lug. Cooper makes the MTZ plus others. I have a set of MTZ's, 33x12.5x17 and love them. I have also heard great things about the Toyo Open Country MT.

Your right! I thought they shared the same tread pattern and they don't. I was also told Cooper made the MT Baja MTZ's, I wonder if that is still true?

I still love my MT Baja MTZ's! The side lugs do make a difference. When you air down or if you are in the mud, the side jugs add a little extra grip.

Pic's of the Toyo, Cooper and MT are below. You can't go wrong with any of them.
