34x10.50-16LT on a 16x7 tundra wheel?

anyone have any idea if this will fit/drive ok... i am looking at the interco LTB to put on the wheels and wanted to get some opinions from you guys.... this would be a great "Tall and skinny setup" i just want to know if the wheel is too think for the tire and if i would be ok with this setup driving onroad 80% of the time.

thank you for any advice.

I'm sure the tires would be more than fine on the rim. Whether or not the Tundra rim is the same as the 16" FJ rim is a different story. I imagine the Tundra wheel would fit fine, but I don't really know.

well the tire chart on the website says 8" wide rim. i believe there have been several people on the forum that have fit the 16x7 tundra steel wheel on the fj with no problems other than slight modification to the spare tire carrier. i am more concerned with the tire being too wide for the rim and me having issues with the bead and tire roll over.

i have a16x8 tundra wheel but its form the Ivan Stewart edition tundra.

But I think those tires will work on the 7" wheel.

Re: 34x10.50-16LT on a 16x7 tundra wheel?

Well, the rims on a first gen Tacoma were 7" wide and a 10.5 wide tire was great...I assume that the extra height is the issue on your 34's. People have been running those tires on the factory 17's and they are 7.5 wide. Hmmmm...adding more sidewall height by going to 16" wheel...plus a narrower wheel? Maybe it is a recipe for disaster. Probably only when aired down though. You wouldn't ever air those down though, right?

I think it's usually best to stick within the tire manufacturers specs. Now if Interco says the measurements were taken on an 8" wide wheel, that's a whole different deal than the acceptable range of wheel width. Giver Interco a call!

Re: 34x10.50-16LT on a 16x7 tundra wheel?

D'... That tire would fit on a 6" rim if need be,
forced and a bead issue at low pressure, but I
think you will be fine on a 7"... My bro-in-law
has a 15.5 wide swamper on 10" rims now for 7
years with no issues...

Are you sure you want to run LTB's or any of
the swamper non-radial family ?... LTB's are
the best of the pick in that range as far as the
ride is concerned, and does very well on the
trail too, but unlike the radial tires, they can
be unpredictable as far as ride and balancing...
I just want you to know what you may have to
deal with, and I say "may" due to my
"unpredictable" statement above...

Now that I said that, I will tell you that I would
not get any other tire for my FJ than the LTB's...

i am actually almost 100% sent on the special service tsl :-) those seem to be taller and thinner :-) and i am tired of playing it safe with a/t tires and if i go m/t i am going the right way

SAM-21

Re: 34x10.50-16LT on a 16x7 tundra wheel?

SAM-21 is a 9.0 width... 8.0 on the tread...
I am running the LTB-09 at 10.3 w/ 9.3 on
the tread... LTB-08 is a 16 with a 10.7
width and 9.25 tread... I have yet to see,
personally, anyone running the special
service ones, although I had though about
it at one time...

Oh Yeaa... SWAMPERS ARE LOUD... ...
