Black wheels

Hey, looking for some cheap, quality black wheels... I know I'm gonna get ppl yelling about the serach function and i did see that thread that compares different wheels and tires and has pics, however I was hoping some of you guys couls tell me abiout your experiences with wheels.

I am in the denver area and I am definitley going to replace the stock tires with (most likely) BF Goodrich A/Ts. Not gonna lift it so if i can find a good deal i would like to get some black wheels that will work and look good with the stock height and some A/Ts. I would prefer to just get them somewhere around here and not have to order and have 'em shipped to me, so if you have any advice lt me know. the whole wheel mkt is just pretty confusing ot me... thanks

Re: Black wheels

Yeah well... Steelies are nice and cheap but I'm not sure I wanna go from my 17'' alloys to steelies. Just wondering if there are any decent black cast wheels out there that don't hurt the wallet too much... maybe i'll end up going with steelies though we'll see

Re: Black wheels

Found an offer somewhere (can't remember where) that says wheel and tire combo, I wanna say Mickey thompsons, for like $1600 or something, not sure what size that was either. Of course getting a set of 5 wheels for under $300 is something that's hard to argue with but my rig is my DD and my commute is as long as i can stand (time and fuel wise) so i don't want the extra weight of steelies. Never had steelies so feel free to try and talk me in to them but I was looking at maybe $600 for a set... I'm probably dreaming and aiming for somewhere right in between the price range of steelies and cast or forged wheels but maybe someone on here has an idea...

Re: Black wheels

I hate to state the obvious, but, I'm sure you may have been told not too many folks will want to put a much taller tire on your vehicle unless it is lifted at least a little. Perhaps I'm not as adventurous as you seem to be, but, I just had my stock alloys powder coated black (including the spare) and got some Dunlops on them. I get compliments on them all the time and most people just like the simplicity of it all! My Toyota dealer put the steelies on them so I could roll while they sent my wheels to be powder coated. The guy who powder coated them did a good job! Just an idea if you still decide you don't want to lift. Wheel clearance is a big issue especially if you plan on even minimal off-roading. The rest of these guys on this forum will tell you that. Good luck!

Re: Black wheels

Try the pro comp 7089's or something similar. They are powder coated and around $150 a rim.
