So we have 305 75 17s they are 34inchs Maxxis tires right now for our offroading we do but i want something for the road. Ours has started making a Hella noise since they been broke in

Question is Which tires do you have on yours?

We have a 3 inch lift dont want nothing thats gonna make our FJ look Gay!

I can get whatever road tire i want so Which do you use and do they have road noise?

Re: what tires you got on yours?

I've got 33" Toyo Open Country M/T's. They have rugged looking lugs, just a very little more noise than the stock tires (I hardly notice it), great on- and off-road performance -- no ripping or flaking off, but are heavy and relatively expensive. I am completely happy with both looks and performance.

Re: what tires you got on yours?

since you will have dedicated trail tires I say go with a AT at the most in a 285/70/17 I like BFG but there are other good tires as well.

Nitto Terra Graplers A/T - 305/70/R17 (34x12.5x17)
Minimal road noise.
Excellent traction in SoCal standard off road conditions including rocks.
Ok traction in mud (Central Utah clay)
No significant tread damage with considerable low-air rock crawling.

Rating - Love 'Em!

Re: what tires you got on yours?

BFG MT 35"- I went with the BFG MT's because they have an excellent reputation & have been around for many years. For a MT tire the lug size & spacing are a bit towards the more nild end of the spectrum for a mud tire. I didn't want an super agressive lug pattern since here in So Cal my FJ will see a alot of city traffic etc.
I have had nothing but good luck with past BFG AT & MT tires. The features such as extra rim edge protection, true 3 ply sidewall construction & the newer KO technology are just a plus. BTW BFG was pushing the "triguard" 3 ply side wall years ago when others have just started doing it in the last 3-5 yrs.
BFG is owned by Michelin. We all know thet these guys make super quality stuff & I have always thought that this quality carries over to the BFG side.
IMO to get the maximum tire life & minimize noise from any AT or MT tire you must rotate every 5k. But most of all please don't run your tires at the Maximum load rated psi unless you are gonna carry something really heavy or tow. You will just end up with premature center wear & have a hard ride.
I run mine at 35 psi & they do just great!IMHO
