That is a tough call. If you could find a small spacer (1" or less) I would go for the spacer. Not to sure on how the caliper is constructed in that area but I am sure there is excess material that could be cut off. But you really are playing with fire. I am think you could at lest take it down to the same height as were the numbers are stamped in at with out any problems.
Josh, I'm quite sure even 1mm would make it clear (while caliper isn't hot). I have no idea how much they would expand when heated up.

Alot of people are running spacers on their rigs that I know of. Check out Matt07FJ's rig. I dont think its hurting his articulation any.
I know Bandi and Mir207 had more rubbing issues with spacers installed. Mir207 had no choice but to use spacers. Bandi used them to widen the stance.

Re: Slight clearance issue

There are 5/16" wheel spacers available for most bolt patterns....not sure on the 6 on 5.5" bolt pattern, but I'd guess yes. Can't remember the brand.....C-P products maybe??

Re: Slight clearance issue

Has anyone grind on the calipers? Do you think I'll have issues with the rears? I didn't get to test them. My neighbor helped me put the front one on, but I couldn't bother him to try and put the rears on too.

Re: Slight clearance issue

I was looking at those rims but decided to go with the Ultras because they had a 4 1/4 inch back spacing. I am close to the caliper with the 4 1/4 inch bs, had i gone with the 4 inch bs they would of rubbed. Your proplably only rubbing buy an 1/8 inch. I would use the smallest size spacer you can find, unless you want the wheels sticking out past the fender. With 33x11.5 tires and 4 1/4 bs my tire tread is almost dead even with the outside of the fender.

I'm rubbing by the thinest hair and that's why I was considering grinding. I truly think 1-2mm would've cleared. I have no idea what are the precautions regarding the minimal thickness of spacers. I would think that too thin and they might crack or warp.

Re: Slight clearance issue

I think shadow-warrior grinded his calipers to fit his 16's. Try PM'ing him

Here's the link to his thread

He says he had some of the caliper grinded off in paragraph 3
