I rub now...

I've been running 285's for almost a year now with no issues. They were mounted on the 16x7 OEM steelies off a Tundra. Now I have them mounted on 16x9 Axis Regulators. I love the wheels and they make my truck look waaaaay better but now I rub at full lock. Is this due to the extra width of the rim? That seems like the only reasonable explanation. Looks like I'm gonna have to visit the local shop to chop those body mounts.

The extra width of the rim will set the tire slightly more outboard, therefore making it more likely to rub the body mount(s) when the wheels are turned. A slightly different backspacing on your new wheels might put them out there as well.

Good insight as always.

Now go chop 'em! (If you can do it yourself, I found it to be pretty fun. How many people take grinders and welders to their new(ish) vehicle? I did! )

Re: I rub now...

Just do a body mount chop and you will be fine.. I have a 3" lift w/33.12.50 on 18" rims. My off set is -12 and I don't rub at all. EVER. Doing a chop is the way to go. It is a very passive thing to do and will not void any warranties. I recommend it highly. Good luck bro..

^^that, and...

looks like your wheel comes in two offsets.

-10mm offset, like a 1" spacer on your last set up.
-24mm offset, like a 1.5" spacer to your last set up,

assuming your Tundra steelies were +15mm offset

good looking wheel

like everyone else said, body mount chop and your good

Re: I rub now...

Tires too closed in will rub the UCA. Tires pushed out too far will rub. Gotta find the happy balance. This is in regard to oversized tires/rims.
