Wheel spacers are a MUST?????

I just took ownership of a 2007 Black diamond. I love the truck. My first mod is going to be a Rough Country 3" lift, when adding aftermarket wheels(procomp 7005) is it true that WHEEL SPACERS have to be used? I was told that the front wheels do not have enougth thread. If this is true are there any wheels that would fit without spacers? Besides Spidertrax are there any other good companies making spacers? I always thought that adding spacers was NOT a good idea. Please advise.

Re: Wheel spacers are a MUST?????

The spidertrax are built so that you have the full threads. The 1.25" spacers have a center ring that keeps your wheel centered. Excellent spacers. About 2k miles since I installed and no issues.

I've not heard spacers are required for any lift. Not sure about the lift you chose though.

Good luck!

Mike

Wheel Spacers are not required with the Rough Country lifts. With the 3" lift you can use your factory wheels, if you choose too.

Spider Trax seem to be the best one's on the market. They 1.25" billet aluminum spacers and are hub centric.

Re: Wheel spacers are a MUST?????

Ditto for me on the spider trax being the best spacer. I would never use a slip on spacer again. Not worth the safety and vibration problems that you may encounter. Just get the right wheels that fit or get the spideys!!

Re: Wheel spacers are a MUST?????

what would be the back spacing of an after-market wheel in order to have the same effect of that of a OEM rim and spacer?

Re: Wheel spacers are a MUST?????

Depends on the width of the wheel. I believe the stock wheel is 4.5" backspacing on a 7.5" wide wheel. Most wheels will be around 4.5 for what you will be looking at.
