Blizzaks on dry... good idea?

Hey i know this is stupid. But does anyone here run blizzaks as a everyday tire? I know they are SNOW SNOW tires. And the tread probably wears real fast if i drove it daily on dry pavement. But i mean im coming from a car that killed 800 dollar tires every 5000 miles.

I'm going to tahoe and i want some security in the snow with the Blizzaks. I dont know how well the stock bridgestone duelers will do in the snow. And im planning on changing my rim and tire size soon so i dont want to get something expensive. Any opinion or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Blizzaks on dry... good idea?

The stock H/Ts are M&S treads and they do alright in the snow. Nothing amazing, but they hold their own.

Blizzaks will be fine but they will wear extremely fast on dry pavement. Depending on the temperatures you'll see, of course. If we're talking about 70-80 degree weather I wouldn't recommend it at all but in cold winter weather but dry ground they will be fine. Blizzaks (and similar) are made with a very soft tread compound designed to maintain grip even when very cold, but because of that they will wear fast on warm pavement.

FWIW, we put about 5000mi (75% gravel, the rest warm pavement) on a set of Blizzaks on a '91 Subaru Turbo Legacy for rally racing and they lasted a lot longer than I thought they would.
