Re: 5 Tire rotation

I would rotate it through all corners.

Spare to right rear
Right rear to right front
Right front to left rear
Left rear to left front
Left front to spare

or conversly.. Ron

But if you're rotating 2 tires on one side of the rig and 3 tires on the other side isn't that going to cause some issues down the road (so to speak)? For example, after 50,000 miles you'll have 2 tires with 50,000 miles on them, 2 tires with 35,000 miles on them, and the spare will have 30,000 miles.

I had the same thought. I'm gonna go with this (Image G):

I had the same thought. I'm gonna go with this (Image G):

changing the rotation (ie. passenger side tires to drivers side) should only be done with street tires (radials). if you have all terains, mud terrains, etc...you should never change the rotation direction.

Re: 5 Tire rotation

The "guru's" have flip flopped on this for years. The manual on both my Rubicon's (GY MTR's) specifically said to do just that, as the example states. For directional tires no, but 99.9% are non-directional. Ron

Re: 5 Tire rotation

Yup. Image G is how I do it. NON Directional can be crossed.

Re: 5 Tire rotation

with 20,000 miles on the four original tires, and 0 miles on the spare tire. Is it a bad idea to now rotate the spare into the scheduled tire rotations?

Re: 5 Tire rotation

But they last 1/5 longer if you use all five.. and you can get a different tire. I have never done a 5 tire rotation, but I will now. I want to get different tires Ron

I realized this when I discovered the I "don't really need GY MTR's on the street", but I have a new spare that will only bring $50!

Re: 5 Tire rotation

But, if you rotate the spare in and you have a major blowout you'll only need to replace one tire instead of 2
