20" or 18" wheels

Well decided to go with 6" RC lift, . need to know if any one is riding on 20" wheels with 35" tires. looking for any input on the, ride difference' or offroad difference. Is more tire sidewall better for anything? (smaller rim) or less sidewall ? Is there more strain on the rims when offroad? any help would make my purchase on wheels helpful. Or maybe 17" Rims. pros and cons. Havent seen much discusion on the differences . If I go with the 20" the tire and rim will bolt right up, no spacer. if I go with the 18" I will need a spacer. thanks Rick

Lol, no kidding. I wish I could fit 15's on it instead of the 17's I have.

Why is it if you get a 20X35 it costs more? Your actually getting less rubber than a 15X35. So WTF?

Re: 20" or 18" wheels

If your looking for wheels and tires for offroad, you really want to stay with a small wheel as possible. This will give you more protection to your wheels and alow you to air down when you need to, so as not to destroy your wheels. If I could go with a 15" wheel I would, I myself went with the smallest I could which was a 16" wheel with 33" tires. If you want to spend most of the time on the road, go as big as you want. But most of us that wheel offroad use the smallest we can find. I hope this helps.

Re: 20" or 18" wheels

So is it for protection for the rim to go smaller on the rim size. let me get this straight, more tire sidewall for protection of the rim correct? and not enuogh air to let down when off roading

Unless you are putting 44 inch tires and a 10 inch lift....then , no.

Not many FJ'ers that like to "pimp" or "bling-bling" on this site........even 18's are pushing it.

I am actually thinking about going from my stock 17's and going down to 16's.

Re: 20" or 18" wheels

I have 20's on with a 35in tire i think they look sick and drive like stock if not better! I drive the truck mostly on road as its my daily driver i think most of us do so thats why i went with them. It seems that the old school way of lifting a truck was put huge tires and small wheels but more and more ur seeing 20's on hard core off-road rigs even rock crawlers. check these out here are pics of 20s with 33's and even those look sick http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...-build-up.html

Hope this help i will be post pics of my build soon good luck.
