Called TRD Customer Service Regarding Black Wheels....

Wow. The customer service guy at TRD was very rude. I'd encourage you all to call TRD and maybe you'll have better luck than I did finding out why they're being so stingy about the black wheels that are installed on the SE.

The guy I spoke with told me that the black TRD's will never be available for standard FJ's. I asked him why this was since many current and future FJ owners would be interested in buying them, and he gave me some incoherent answer that made no sense at all. He started off by implying that other FJ's couldn't handle them somehow, but then backed off that assertion after I questioned him on it. What gives?

I hope there isn't another thread regarding these TRD's. I looked and didn't see one. If there is, I apologize in advance.

They don't want to produce +2,600 TT FJs for us in the U.S. and all of a sudden have 5,000 running around garnering a premium that Toyota isn't getting.

Follow the $$$, it will always lead you to the answer.

What he said, really... Take a look at the TRD (USA) stuff and you'll see that it's made by many different vendors with some good and some not so good, but all with the + 100% TRD price.. Ron

they will be available, just like the SE wheels are. How the eff would you replace one if it broke or got (heaven forbid) scratched?

Funny topic. The SE's haven't hit the lots in full force yet, what makes you think you can order the SE TRD wheels so soon? If you go through the right avenues, you'll have no problem getting these wheels new, but *hint*hint* it's not through Toyota corporate or your local toyota dealer.

Re: Called TRD Customer Service Regarding Black Wheels....

Since I haven't yet purchased an FJ, would you all suggest just getting the stock wheels and either selling or trading them once I find the wheels I like?

Re: Called TRD Customer Service Regarding Black Wheels....

I imagine that the reason to limit sales on these parts is to have parts available to thouse that have purchased the TT.
