whats gonna happen?

First I know that this has probably been asked in many different ways and I have searched for hours but can really find anything in the huge pile of info on this site that gives me a better idea of what Im asking.

I am about to purchase a OME 3in light lift (no plans for new bumpers, winch ect) and I was looking at new shoes and tires. I REALLY like the XD Rockstars, but they are wider (18x9) than the stockies. Im wondering how much performance (handling, acceleration, braking, ect) will I lose by putting the wider tires on there. oh Im looking at 285/65/18 ATs (not sure which exact tires yet). I know that Ill lose a lil MPG w the lift and bigger tires, my main concern is the performance lose because of the bigger/wider rims and tires.

thanks for the help and please be nice I did my best searching to find this out.
