I think you will have to use wheel spacers and do the body mount chop...my 2 cents.

I run 33x12.5 Nitto Terra Grapplers on a nine-inch wide rim. I also have a ToyTec 3" lift. Obviously, this is not an identical setup, but it may be instructive to your application. My setback is -6mm.

With -6mm setback, I have exactly 15mm of space between the sidewall and the UCA. It does not appear to have ever rubbed.

So, if my wheels had zero setback (like the KMC's) instead of -6mm, the tire would be 6mm closer to the UCA. To wit: fifteen millimeters of room, minus six millimeters, equals nine millimeters. That's just 3/8 of an inch of room to spare (a.k.a. less than one centimeter) with the MT's and KMC's.

That's probably too close a fit.

And yes, you will need a body mount chop.

I'm running those on stock rims without a chop or spacer with no problem even before lift it was just minor rub. Not sure about them on different rims, they change the shape of the tire depending on the width.

What size Terra Grapplers?? 295/70/17? Because I am considering getting that tire in that size and putting them on 17x9 wheels with an offset of 10 (+10 I assume....I think backspacing is like 5.35 inches)

From what you just said....it doesn't sound like my setup would work??

Oh....I got a Rough Country 3" lift in the mail yesterday, so that would be on the FJ too. Didn't order wheels or tires yet.

Just to get the wheel out a little, away from things that rub. I don't know for sure that you would need them. I have a 6" lift and still needed the body chop.

I THOUGHT THAT THE 33X12.50X17 ARE THE SAME AS THE 285/70/17 SO YOU WOUDLN'T NEED A BODY CHOP...WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE TIRES...ALSO I HAVE 16X8 HELO MAXX 6 WITH 285/75/16 RIGHT NOW WITH NO RUB OR BODY CHOPS OR SPACERS...
IS ANYBODY RUNNING THIS SET UP OR LIKE THIS SET UP...
