Maximum BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO size?

First, I'm sorry for asking something I'm sure has been answered before, but my attempts to search for it failed -- if I do any specific search I get no results (to the extent that this morning I'm wondering if the search is even working), last night when I did less specific searches I never found an answer.

I'm trying to get an FJ with 16" wheels (all terrain package). I'd like to put BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO's on it. What's the largest size of this particular tire I can put on a stock FJ without causing problems? It will be going off road. Do I need to stick with the standard 265/75R16? I'm seeing mixed answers about the 285/75R16. I'm not sure the BFG AT T/A comes in anything inbetween.

Thanks.

Re: Maximum BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO size?

With the suspension still stock and going offroad the only size available to you would be the 265/75-16. The 285's would only work if your vehicle never left the pavement or you put some type of lift on it. BFG does make a tire that is in between these two sizes. It is the 255/75-17. This size comes in a MT version only. I really don't know of a size that is between those two and uses a 16 inch rim. So, I guess you have to decide just how important is it to have the Off Road package. Hope this helps!

Re: Maximum BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO size?

Do a 3" lift. It's cheap & makes the FJ look perfect. I got the Toytec 3" spacer lift (will be installed tonite) & 285 BFG A/T's(mounting on Monday). Check out the Build threads for members w/3" lifts, You will be ordering in less than a week.My lift was $299.99 shipped. I am having a mech. do install, I don't want to tear it apart myself/ but many
do it themself.

I noticed you did not buy the OME front and rear shock with your ToyTec lift. How did it work out?
