Hey guys,
so the FJ that my dad and I are looking at has the 16" wheels from the 2000-2006 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia. the tires are LT 285 - 75 - R16 the 75 might be a 70. I forget what brand tire, I forgot to write it down. Part of the deal (if we decide to get this one) is to have the dealer sand blast them down and repaint them black, because it will look better and there are rust spots on the rims. The spare also does not match the rest of the tires, they will replace that too. What I want to know is what are the pro's and con's of going with the smaller rim but bigger tire combination over the stock setup?
Thanks for any input

As sean pointed out, if going off road, the 16" will be better because when you air down you can get more sidewall flex out of those rims. The lower air pressure allows you to have a larger footprint with the tire and gain more traction is most situations. I don't know what larger rims are better on road though, no help there.
If you would like to buy different rims however and these are the black steelies, I am really trying to find a set of 4 of this EXACT rim and have some money to pay you if you want to upgrade to something else.
pm me if you consider.
