Firestone Destination M/T + Stock Alloys = Can't Align?
I have made 4 trips to Firestone now to try to get my front end aligned after lifting the front. I have the Destination 285/70R17s (which I absolutely love). According to the mechanic, the stock alloy rim, which has very little lip around the edge) combined with the larger and stiffer sidewall of the Destination makes it impossible for the fingers of the alignment machine to grip onto the wheel. They tried this twice today, once with three guys trying to get the thing on after they dropped the air pressure down to 20 PSI.
Has anyone else run into this? I wanted to use Firestone because of the lifetime warranty, but at this point I just want to be able to get it done.
