I have spoke to both toyota and the local dealer about the tire issue. I can not switch to a different tire and must keep the same bridgestone dueler h/t 840 on the fj. The dealer has to order these tires as they do not stock them. So, now i have to take the fj to the dealer to have them check the tire then i have to wait for them to order the tire and go back to have them installed. If i had already purchased different tires toyota would reimburse me for the original ones. Each visit will waste close to 4 hours of my time if not more and 7 bucks in gas for each trip. Why can i not switch tires ? None of it makes sence to me . And yes my tires already have small leaks in them.
TMS - You need to speak with the "powers that be" and help us understand why we cannot get the value of the tires reimbursed to the local dealer. I would like my tires replaced with BFG tires of the same size and feel like you are wasting 2 sets of tires since I will be replacing my tires with BFGs in the next 6 months +/- anyway. Since this appears to be a problem with your contractor - and not TMS - then it is clearly a claim of value that you will receive from this contractor or their insurance company.

Toyota or any other company should not be held responsible for anything beyond replacing what they have provided.
Any other action beyond this creates hastles that they are forced to pay for in simple extra time spent.
Thanks Toyota for at least 'trying' this new method of communication and know full well that it is appreciated by everybody here.
Re: Toyota's Special Service Campaign (SSC)--60D For 2007 FJ Cruiser
im still pissed about the pissy quality control at Toyota nowa days. How the heck can you forget to check the lugnut torque? I traveled 3500miles before realizing my lugnuts were loose. Think about all the offcamber 4wheelin i've done, all that weight resting on the loose lugnuts. I then retorqued my lugs and went about 4wheelin. 5300miles so far..

Hello from Toyota Motor Sales USA. Yesterday, we informed the NHTSA of our intent to conduct a Special Service Campaign for our 2007 FJ Cruiser—approximately 9,000 early production vehicles—to inspect the tires.
Because of the importance of this exciting new vehicle to the Toyota line-up and the incredible passion that has been ignited by FJ owners online in discussion groups like FJCruiserForums, we’re going to try to be a bit more proactive and provide the right information to consumers and customers via consumer-generated internet discussions.
The service campaign is a voluntary action by Toyota to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction for FJ owners and to make sure that the vehicle continues to perform as expected by our owners. This is not a tire manufacturer recall, but a special servicing campaign by Toyota.
During the unique tire-to-wheel assembly process for the FJ Cruiser equipped with either the Bridgestone Dueler or Dunlop Grandtrek tires, there is a possibility that the inner bead of the tire may have experienced some damage. If that happened, a bulge could develop at some point on the sidewall and air could leak out. There have been no reported incidents of this actually happening—but we want to take the precaution of finding these tire/wheel assemblies and replacing the tires with new ones.
We are able to isolate the vehicles affected and have VIN lists that will be available to our dealers. Affected FJ Cruiser customers will receive a letter from us starting in early July. The letter will ask FJ Cruiser customers to take their vehicle to a Toyota dealer for inspection, confirmation that they are within the affected tire-to-wheel assembly range and replace all involved tires at no charge to the customer. We think this will take about two hours.
While we certainly would prefer not to have to concern our enthusiastic FJ Cruiser owners, we and our dealers will work very hard to communicate well and make the campaign service as painless as possible. We regret the inconvenience.
Hope this information is helpful.
FJCruiserForums participants and others may call our Customer Experience Center for more information on this SSC at 888-270-9371.
Re: Toyota's Special Service Campaign (SSC)--60D For 2007 FJ Cruiser
Called my dealer two weeks ago-- wasn't sure if my FJ was affected. Suggested I bring it in. Made the appointment for today as I was on vacation last week. Took it in. In the meantime, the service department checked my VIN, and made sure they had the replacement tires on hand. They replaced all 5 tires. This is a smaller dealer-- I think they have sold less than 10 FJs so far, and I was the first to come in for this service. When I got home-- guess what was in the mail? My letter from Toyota advising me of the service campaign!! So-- thanks to Toyota for posting to this site.
Re: Toyota's Special Service Campaign (SSC)--60D For 2007 FJ Cruiser
I called the 1-800 number about my dicast model, and also had them check my vin for the wheels. If you are wondering about your model, ask them about the tires as well. They can look it up.
