im still pissed about the pissy quality control at Toyota nowa days. How the heck can you forget to check the lugnut torque? I traveled 3500miles before realizing my lugnuts were loose. Think about all the offcamber 4wheelin i've done, all that weight resting on the loose lugnuts. I then retorqued my lugs and went about 4wheelin. 5300miles so far..
From what I understand, even if you initially torque the lugnuts, they may become loose later on. I've always been told to re-torque my lugnuts on any 4x4 after driving 25-50 miles.

Yes they will reimburse you but who has replaced stock tires with the same tires before the SSC came out???

Read the letter that they sent to the government, it states if you have already replaced your tires and show them proof they will reimburse you. I posted the pdf earlier.
Re: Toyota's Special Service Campaign (SSC)--60D For 2007 FJ Cruiser
Just went to the dealer (Toyota of Long Beach) and got the shaft! My VIN (...8201), tires and DOT Serial # are within the affected range and called TMS prior to going to the dealer and was told they would replace all tires at no cost. The dealer took them off and "inspected" them and told me they were good even though I was told differently by TMS and I fit the "mold." Hmmmm, I'll be calling around, don't feel safe in my FJ anymore. Anyone else run into this yet??? And yes I do have the recall notice too where it's written in plain English (Spanish too) "What will Toyota do? Any Toyota dealer can confirm all five tires, including the spare tire, to determine if they are within the affected tire-to-wheel assembly range and replace all involved tires with new tires at NO CHARGE to you." Sounds pretty cut and dry....obviously not. Bad Toyota, truly bad customer service!

This Special Service Campaign does not involve the inspection of tires. The technical instructions call for the replacement of tires for affected vehicles.
I'm sorry for your inconvenience and am forwarding your comments and contact information to the Customer Experience Center and they will follow-up with you to get this resolved.

Thanks for letting us know.
TMS I hope you can resolve this issue because I have already spoken with three of your TMS CSRs on four seperate occasions and still I have the same (recalled) tires on my vehicle. Also the Toyota District Customer rep for the SW region Lori at Toyota of Long Beach (where I purchased and took my FJ for service) gave me the same answer on a follow up yesterday. I am pretty dissapointed with Toyota's service at this point (please everyone this is me in particular this dealer's service department has issues). Thank you for your response and I look forward to hearing from someone else. My work number is 562-627-7589. Is there any way to contact you? I tried to send you an IM but your box is full.
Re: Toyota's Special Service Campaign (SSC)--60D For 2007 FJ Cruiser
I got similar response when I called dealer #1 (Longo Toyota). That's why I haven't gone because I was afraid something like this might happen or worse, a mix of new and old tires
Re: Toyota's Special Service Campaign (SSC)--60D For 2007 FJ Cruiser
Be careful on this one. A few weeks ago I called the 800 Toyota number, gave them my VIN and was told my FJ wasn't in the batch that needed tires. Last week I got the SSC 60D notice in the mail and I was going to ignore it, based on what the lady at the 800 had told me. My wife advised me to call the local dealer and check with them, which I just did. New tires are on order, he looked my VIN up in the computer and it's on the list. I haven't driven it in over two weeks - and I just put my kayak on the roof to do some fishing this week. I didn't ask, but I wonder if I can bring it in for the tire replacement with the yak on the roof? I'll ask when they call me back, supposed to be later this week when the tires arrive.

I've had a mountain bike standing straight up on my old GTI when it got an oil change. Just be careful they don't raise it too high on the lift or SMUSH!
Do we think this is actually a safety issue or is it just slight leaking? In other words, do we run the risk of the tire suddenly blowing out?

Re: Toyota's Special Service Campaign (SSC)--60D For 2007 FJ Cruiser
I just got off the phone w/ TMS customer experience center. My vehicle falls under the SSC 60D notice. The tires where exchanged the same day I purchased the vehicle on April 20th, 2006. I wanted more aggressive tires. I was told that without proof that my tires where damaged there is no recourse. In order to receive reimbursment I need proof of damage, cause of damage, condition of tires and repair receipt from the business I had the tires exchanged from. This of course is not possible. I just bought new tires and traded in the stock tires. My understanding here on this thread is that "This special service campaign does not involve the inspection of tires.". What next??
