Re: Toyota's Special Service Campaign (SSC)--60D For 2007 FJ Cruiser
There are some agitated people still waiting for their Mini FJ 1:18 models also.....is this something corporate communications can pass along to the appropriate customer care group within Toyota?

Thanks for posting TMS USA. I realize this is your first post and the fact that you chose to post on this forum leads me to believe that Toyota Motor Sales recognizes that their most loyal FJ Cruiser enthusiasts are in resistance here.
It would please me and everyone else if you elected to use this forum for direct "hot off the press" communication. I hope the recall nature of the first post doesn't have to be repeated, but that the next post might be to announce the Special Edition FJ that has been rumored since February, as an example.
It is realized that official announcements must be coordinated with the Toyota Japan, but if you released FJ Cruiser announcements here at the same time they are released to the UPI and AP news services, we would be most appreciative. Furthermore, the people here crave FJ news, where the newspapers, magazines, radio and television would not appreciate it as much.
Thanks for listening. Hope to hear from you again soon. Regards, Ken
Why the need for exclusivity - this is a service campaign that theoretically could affect lives - I would think Toyta should access ALL forums / chat rooms / clubs that might be in contact with the 9000 affected FJC owners - JMO...

Re: Toyota's Special Service Campaign (SSC)--60D For 2007 FJ Cruiser
I'm replacing my OEM tires with new tires this week. I plan on keeping the OEM tires to use on my wife's Seqoia. Will I be able to tell if the tires are damaged by looking at them?
Re: Toyota's Special Service Campaign (SSC)--60D For 2007 FJ Cruiser
I think it would be great if TMS would please confirm that the sevice bulletin re: fuel octane is accurate, i.e. all grades of fuel will work but 91+ is preferred for better performance. To put an end to any and all question.

Are all owners on the internet? They best way to handle this is through individual owner contact. Since someone posted this bulletin on here previously, I'm sure they signed on to verify that information...

Probably not for sure, since the damage could be so negligible to the naked eye or even non-existent. Remember, we have not had any issues so far, but became aware of the possibility of damage during that limited time period of the mating of wheel and tire.
The affected FJs were produced from late January 2006 to late March 2006, but it's best to confirm the involvement of your vehicle by VIN and/or receipt of our letter.
Any chance you could just hold off making the switch until you find out if your FJ is even involved or has the campaign work completed?

Adding the nontraditional (FJCruiserForums) to the traditional (insert name of popular automotive publication here) has been suggested as one way to strengthen/reinforce our brand image (and get accurate info spread faster), so your hope may become a way of doing business for us in the not-so-distant future. We do aim to please![/QUOTE]

I was really hoping the FJ was going to avoid recalls which is effectively what your talking about. I reluctantly switched from being a loyal Chevy man to try this new vehicle from Japan. It's nice that everyone is so understanding and appreciative but there has been a screw up which sounds as though it could potentially be hazardous (anyone remember Ford Explorer/Firestones?). Owners should be contacted post haste.

Yikes, I have an early build FJC (#1359 I think). I have already TRADED my tires (3Kmiles) with Discount Tire for BFGs. They promised to sell them used to a needy customer. Now I feel compelled to call them and alert them. If they still have these in stock, will Toyota honour replacement? Do these tires have serial numbers. This could get complicated.
Re: Toyota's Special Service Campaign (SSC)--60D For 2007 FJ Cruiser
LOL! Well, I don't understand the comparison to the Firestone fiasco, other than that they were both recalls
The differences?
1. The real potential for problems is very small.
2. Toyota is being proactive, unlike Ford/Friestone which had to be dragged into court after lives were lost.
I posted that dealer bulletin yesterday after weighing all the possibilities, including the possibility for hysteria and panic (I did receive several distraught PM's & emails). Finding flaws in processes and being proactive is what seperates Toyota from the rest. They recognize no person or process is perfect, and problems will happen. The spirit of Kaizen runs throughout Toyota's processes and demands searching for and implementing continuous improvement.
Proactive approaches, even to seemingly minor flaws, is part of our legendary quality process.
