I contacted my dealer right after the notice and was told I don't qualify due to DOT #s not matching. NOW, I learn that all tires are being replaced regardless of DOT #s. Where is the follow-up notice?!?!
If not for my own proactive research and this great forum, how was I supposed to know?
I could be (or in fact AM) driving my family around on defective tires---sheesh!
And while I understand that it is "Bridgestone's problem" and I therefore can not upgrade to say BFGs, why can't I pay the difference and upgrade to say Bridgestone Revos??
You won't find a bigger Toyota supporter than me, but this is starting to leave a foul taste...

First, thank you for being a loyal Toyota supporter. It is very much appreciated.
I regret that you and some others have been inconvenienced by either speaking with your dealer or going to the dealership after notification of the SSC and finding that your vehicle tires may not be subject to the recall. There has been some confusion re the DOT numbers originally posted with the SSC information. To help eliminate this, we are issuing an update to our dealers re the original SSC 60D to eliminate the reference to the DOT numbers. We know the affected VIN numbers and have completed mailings of our letters to all affected customers.
For those affected customers who may have been denied replacement of tires because of confusion over the DOT numbers, we are in the process of re-notification by mail that you may return to your dealership and have all of the affected tires replaced at no charge, provided your vehicle was in the original VIN range and has the original OEM tires specified within the SSC. BTW, to help emphasize this important clarification, we are referring to this as a re-launch of the original SSC 60D as
Toyota Special Service Campaign (SSC) 6AD for Certain FJ Cruiser Early Production Vehicles Equipped with Bridgestone Dueller H/T P265/70R17 or Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 P265/70R17 Tires.
Essentially, nothing has changed. The original VIN numbers still apply. If you have received a campaign letter and have had your tires replaced, you need not do anything further. If you have received a campaign letter but were denied replacement tires after a dealer "inspection" (and had NOT had the above OEM tires previously replaced), you should return to your Toyota dealership, referencing SSC 6AD for tire replacement. You will also receive an update letter from us.
TMS USA regrets any confusion re this important SSC and is hopeful this reply post to FJR Colorado and our dealer communications occurring simultaneously will provide simple and clear instructions for the completion of this Toyota SSC.
Thanks!
