Warrantied Terra Grappler and Broken Wheel Stud

Who'd have thought I'd be going to Kal Tire for a warranty on my Nitto Terra grapplers due to a slice 1/4" thick in the sidewall. No biggie, absolutely replaced the tire without much hesitation, I just had to pay for the labour. So while in the shop Im talking with the installer and suggesting that he torques the wheel down to 100 foot pounds. He argues, "No, especially if you go offroad, you want 125 or up to 140". So after questioning his motives, I gave in and said "OK dude".

Not to any shock, the first stud he torqued down, really didnt tighten that much. He he he effed up right there but kept doing the other 5 but not to 140 LOL. He came back to the broken one and tried to tighten it again but it was just spinning. I gocked off again saying "140 HUH?

By this time it is 5:30 PM on a friday so we are not getting a stud until monday and my wheeling plans for the weekend are shot.

Lesson learned.... kids at Kal tire dont know FJ's as well as the members on this site
