This falls in the "beating a dead horse" category, but how long do the terra grapplers hold up in comparison to the BFG AT's? Considering "normal" street driving with mild trails occasionally. Im currently running BFG MT's which I love, but Im moving back to the desert and want an AT, I really like the new Nitto TG 285 75 17 size they created for the semi-narrow tall aspect. Please any and all inputs appreciated!

I understand they will last almost as long but they like to be rotated very regularly, every 5,000 miles or so.

I currently run the Nitto A/T Terra Grapplers, I have no issues with them and I rotate them at 7500 mi. intervals. I just turned 30k and there is no uneaven or unusual wear and there is alot of tread depth left. I may easily get to 50k, well we will find out!

I only have 15000 miles on mine and rotate every 4000 miles...with no uneven wear and appear to have barely wore past the nubs so far.... weekend of wheeling in cullowhee and no damage to sidewalls in rocks or on trail.
tough tires....great tread pattern...somewhat self cleaning for an AT....great longevity.

i have over 50k on mine...they where rotated when i put them on the FJ and off the 4runner...i could probaly go another 10k on these..these are awesome tires...
IMO, both are comparable off road. Typically the BFGs last longer, but the Nittos will ride smoother and are much easier to balance out.

i have gotten as much as 50k out of BF AT's, and i have gotten as little as 30K. its all dependant on the alignment and driving style.
generally, the terra grappler lasts longer. we sell a lot of those and have nothing but good results. they balance well, and the mud grapplers suprisingly do too. but back on the terras, the less agressive pattern (when compared to the BF AT) yields a longer tread life.
I just put a set of TGs on my FJ last month and love them. I have read quite a few write-ups and talked to some owners that BFGs will last longer if properly balanced and aligned but tend to lose a bit on wet traction.

Great tires, as noted above. I am currently running 305/70-16 on all five wheels and have the spare mixed into the rotation as well. They get rotated every 5K and I run them at 45psi around town (90%) and 18psi on the trail (10%). So far they have accumulated around 20k miles and show very little wear. I expect to see 60k out of this set before replacement.
