Re: 33's = increased risk of rolling off bead when aired down & at 30-35 degree + ang

HAHA as usual there are many differing opinions and ideas and things seem to get side tracked. For your question though i have to refer back to when I was a little under 20 on my 33's doing about 30 mph and took a turn too sharp. I went up on 2 wheels for about 3 or 4 seconds, had the tires stuffed in the wheel well so bad it rubbed off all my underbody coating, and still with that much force it didn't slip a bead. I won't say it wont ever happen because it does and it will, But the likelyhood of it is slim if all you are doing is driving at an angle. I personally would be more worried of hitting a rock or bump on the high side and flopping the rig on it's side.

I can't believe all you guys aren't setting this guy straight.

You all know that rolling on 24's with a 45 aspect ratio will prevent rolling a bead all day. Don't let these guys fool you and think that running 33's with a high aspect ratio is the best way to go.

Its all about the least amount of rubber on the sidewall that will prevent rolling a bead...

And you are from the "Do as I say, not as I do" school of persuasion?

Exhibit "A", your honors... (heh heh)

And why stop at 45's? Let's hit 35's or 30's even!

I'll second the comments on the strap method for getting things back together... here's our own BellyDoc watching Sean K take the strap to an FJ wheel, how exciting!

I run 33"s at about 20 to 22 psi no problems.
