Re: New Nitto Trail Grappler MT

Not surprisingly, they look just like the Toyo Open Country MT's. I'm running a set of those right now, but they are E rated and have very stiff sidewalls. Impervious to rocks and most road hazards, but you have to air them way down on the trail.

And lookee there--first tire listed: 285/70/16! SWEET! Does the guys at Discount Tire Direct have any idea how much these will run? I'll take one of the first sets of five to hit your warehouse if the price is right!

It looks like they combined the BFG KM1, BFG KM2 and Maxxis Bighorn MT all into one. Is it going to be a soft tire like the Mud Grappler or harder like the terra grappler? Other than that it is definately fills the spot between the Terra and Mud grappler in their line up.
the terra grappler is actually really soft. softer than my garbage mt mtz's.

Re: New Nitto Trail Grappler MT

I'm looking into the near future for some new shoes. The A/T Terra Grapplers have been a great choice for me and I actually have 47K on them and still plenty of tread life yet!

I hope they can keep the cost down on the larger sizes, I will need 37/12:50/17 or a set to go on some 20" rims and $400+ is insane!!!

Re: New Nitto Trail Grappler MT

I'd be happy to "test" a sample-set for Discount Tire and provide feedback. Just PM me for shipping address. I'll get them mounted, run them 3,000 mile highway miles (roundtrip) and run trails in Moab and Ouray this fall. Seriously.

Re: New Nitto Trail Grappler MT

On page 32 of the October 09 issue of 4 Wheel & Off-Road Magazine, they have a short review of these new tires.

They had only good things to say about them: well balanced/vibration-free, no loud droning noise, good on-road manners, perform well air-down to 12psi. They did not test them in mud or on wet roads but they're going to test them long-term.

The wet road performance is my biggest concern as I see that they have no sipes on the treads.

Edit: BTW, I'm still open to "testing" a set for you.
