Re: New Nitto Trail Grappler MT

Look like they will have a 295/70/17 and a 35/12.5/17 along with different sidewall lettering on each side so you can pick the look you want.

My Firesone Destination MTs are excellent but I may be considering this tire in the future.

On page 32 of the October 09 issue of 4 Wheel & Off-Road Magazine, they have a short review of these new tires.

They had only good things to say about them: well balanced/vibration-free, no loud droning noise, good on-road manners, perform well air-down to 12psi. They did not test them in mud or on wet roads but they're going to test them long-term.

The wet road performance is my biggest concern as I see that they have no sipes on the treads.

Edit: BTW, I'm still open to "testing" a set for you.
We would like a set of our own to test

The Trail Grappler does have sipes on the inner tread blocks. Check out the technology page on Nitto's website.

OK, I see them on the center rows of tread.

Cool! I like Nitto tires and can't wait to see how they perform on/off road.

Looks that way, huh. I guess it's not the first time and it certainly won't be the last.

Who am I to deny the truth ? I am a full-time woodworker after all.

Re: New Nitto Trail Grappler MT

yeah without hi jacking....wont delve into your affinity for playing with wood.

i am very interested in these tires...last year I remember stating that I wish Nitto would come out with a MT to compete with the Firestone Destination and Goodyear Wrangler....something in between the Terra Grappler and the Mud Grappler.

I am SOOOOOO glad they did as I was getting the Firestones when my Terra Grapplers wore out but now...I got a new object of desire. LOL If they wear even close to the TG I will be ecstatic....a few days in very sharp rocks in Ouray and I dont have the slightest sidewall cut or anything...some light chunking on a couple lugs but that might be from spinning and heating them up on the winch wall a couple times. LOL

Re: New Nitto Trail Grappler MT

I'm within 6 mos of needing a new set of shoes, These M/T's look really promising but they only have limited sizing for now. I need 37/12.50/20" and there site shows TBA.
The tech page shows that there fairly quiet and not to bad in wet weather compaired to the TG A/T. It will suck if I have to go to another brand to get the size I need.

I have about 12K on mine and they have very little wear. Moab was hard on them though but still only resulted in the loss of some little chunks along the sipes. Some of the guys with MTs lost full lugs on the rocks.

If you can give them until the end of the year maybe they'll have a few more sizes released.
