Re: New Nitto Trail Grappler MT

I think I like these tires. I have the "offroad-package 16" rims" (currently with BFGoodrich rugged trail T/A 265/75R16 tires).

I have a 3" lift and I wouldn't mind going with bigger tires, but I'd need a 285/75R16 right?

Re: New Nitto Trail Grappler MT

Question for Discount Tire Direct:

Is there anyway to have these tires mounted to a set of Liquid Metal Gatlins, THEN shipped to me?

I am trying to be able to do as much of this myself, and not have to schedule an appointment and lug these around to get them mounted somewhere .

Yes. They should fit great without a leveling kit.

Yes, we mount and balance wheel and tire packages for FREE before sending them out. Your only hick-up may be with the TPMS depending on what you want to do. We have a few options for you:

1. We can sell you a new set of TPMS sensors and install them, them mount and balance everything and then ship them to you. New TPMS sensors for the Fj run $88.00 each.

2. We can sell you regular valves and install them, then mount and balance everything and then shipped them to you. Regular rubber valves run $3.00 each

3. If you want to keep your OE TPMS sensors, if equipped, then you will need to take your new wheels and tires to someone locally to have them mounted and balanced. Local charges apply.

Doesn't look like it. It looks like the only size available in 16" is the 285/70R16 so far.

No worries, we are here help.

Stock 16" FJ tires are 265/75R16. This size is appox: 31.65" tall and 10.43" wide. (Some tires run a little bigger some run a little smaller, much like shoes)

A 285/70R16 is appox: 31.71" tall and 11.22" wide.

That said. This tire will be basically the same overall diameter but about 3/4" wider. These will fit a stock Fj (no lift or level) with stock 16" wheels. No rubbing should occur.

If you plan to lift or level your FJ I would recommend doing the lift first and then selecting a slightly taller tire. (285/75R16 with stock wheels) This size will fill up the wheel wells a little better, won't rub when mounted on your stock wheels and will give your FJ a a taller and wider stance. With some modifications you may also be able to run a 295/75R16 on stock wheels with a leveling kit.

Here's a tire size calculator if you wish to compare tire sizes on your own. This will also tell you how far your speedometer could be off if you change your tire size.
Tire Size Calculator

Hope this helps. If you would like further assistance from us please call us at 1.888.459.4080. Anyone here would be happy to help you.

So with a level kit on the front the 285/70/16 might look a little goofy?? I may do a level kit but don't want a full lift kit and don't want a taller tire.
