I've been to Moab, but never off roading. Where do you go in Moab and how hard are the trails. I don't really want to cause damage to my FJ right before the summit.

There are trails of many difficulty levels to choose from which have little chance of damage such as Fins n' things and Poison Spider. Ask around before hand or get a guide book as many of the more difficult spots have bypasses or the tough spot is optional. Of course, a poor driver can damage things even on easy trails. I wouldn't be concerned if I were you.

Here is a great book I picked up that talks in detail about the trails in Moab! I scanned both the front and the back of the book if you need the publisher or UPC code to order it. I won this book on fleabay through a Blue Ribbon Coalition auction!

Thanks. If time/money allow, I might head out to Moab before the summit, and hit up some of the easier trails.

Re: Offical Southeast Convoy to Moab and then to the Summit

X3 on the Moab trail book My wife and I have used that book on our last 4 trips to Moab and it is VERY useful. Dont know if it's still on the same page because I have the first edition of the book but if you get the book check out page 48 (tusher tunnel) trail. The trail to get there is very easy but the landscape and tunnel once you get there is way cool. We go there every time we go to Moab

Re: Offical Southeast Convoy to Moab and then to the Summit

Still in for Moab. Is everyone camping for the most part? I may be able to get out there a little earlier too. I plan on hitting Summit, but Moab is what I am really looking forward to. (Been to Summit in '08)

I will be coming from Chicago so it's I80 for me.
