Re: Moab before the Summit - 2018 Edition

We'll definitely hit Hells Revenge part of one day.

Thanks for touching on Hells Gate @Jim_D As for doing that feature, it's entirely up to those in the group. I've actually never done it , not because I don't want to but because I've never been confident in the experience of those I've been with. Your spotter needs to be experienced and know what to do to get you out of it if something goes wrong. We had this happen a few years ago when an individual offered to spot his buddy and his FJ slipped off the wall. He was unable to get him out of it after trying several times but luckily Dan Mick was there and helped him out.

My suggestion: if a bunch of folks want to run it, let's just book Dan or someone else to meet us there. The peace-of-mind factor would be worth the small cost.

As for escalator, same deal. That is not an easy obstacle for FJs and has resulted in plenty of body damage and even vehicles on their side. Definitely not a place to spot especially if you've never seen am FJ run successfully before.

@Woodsman I'd be 100% in for hiring Dan. Someone should call and see if thats a thing they do and the cost associated.

Yeah, wouldn't mind at all pitching in some $$$ to have a local guide...more expensive than a "REMEMBER STUPID You Have to Drive This Home" sticker but a million times cooler!

My brother and I would split the funds into two more shares as well to hire a guide for that trail. Let me know!

Looks like a PSA for locking differentials. About half of that video was footage of one tire spinning wildly. Good luck!

Yeah its like the best. If you plan to attend just make sure everything is functional well in advance of driving out 4WD/locker wise. It can hang up if you have never used it.
