Also, anyone carry around a CB tuner? I'm going to install a CB today but I am a total noob at this. Probably worth getting my own tuner?
I will have an SWR meter with me you can use. I just got a new antenna so I have to tune mine as well.

Re: Moab before the Summit - 2019 Edition

Still playing catchup on prep. Will knock it out this weekend. Will be heading out Wednesday from California to Toquerville, NV to camp before heading to Moab (about 6 hours to Moab). Hoping to be up there Thursday if anyone wants to do some sunset photography. All I have is a medium tele 85mm lens now so i can get some rolling shots if that's what you guys/ girls are into. Down to meetup otherwise I'll see everyone on the weekend. Also, still planning on heading out Tuesday (my friend in his Taco is meeting up) . Anybody taking Tuesday to head up rim rocker to ouray? Let me tag along!

Can someone recommend hotels for Moab and ouray(outside of ouray)? I know late to book.. but I I might want to stay one night to freshen up. If not, I'll rely on my water port. Thanks y'all

@crazysanman if your brakes need replacement, I'd be willing to lend a hand. I'd recommend replacing rotors too since there's probably not an easy way to cut rotors unless you're heading to town. Just a thought. Will be free after Thursday

What are you looking for in a hotel? Me, I can stay almost anywhere as long as it is clean, but others have more expensive tastes.

In Moab I like the Rustic Inn for a reasonable priced and comfortable hotel, and only a block off of the main drag, walking distance to many restaurants and shops etc. The Kokopelli Lodge is another good one kitty corner from the Rustic. A little cheaper but the rooms are small if that matters to you.

If you want cheapest, try the Apache Motel. The rooms are secondhand furniture with shag carpet from the 70s, but it is clean and has a nice pool.

But there are many other choices in Moab as well.

I don't know about Ouray, I think the choices are much more limited there.

Thank you. I am have no bar of what's a decent standard so better to ask. I just wanted a convenient place to SSS and head back to the campgrounds lol. But same as you, as long as it's clean, I'm fine. My wife is skipping out so I don't have to stay anywhere fancy. I'll definitely keep the suggestion in mind. May just grab a motel 6 in green river for $20.

As for ouray. May have to take a drive but maybe I'll just find something on the way back. Was planning to stay a night in Vegas to visit family.

@debFJVT or anyone? are you camping out on sand flats rock this time?

Re: Moab before the Summit - 2019 Edition

Not really a hotel but the Lazy Lizard Hostel is the cheapest place in town... but if you are willing to drive from Green River then yeah you can do better.

Most of the private campgrounds will let you shower for $5 if you want to sleep in the FJ...
