Ready to mod my FJ. Any suggestions?

I'm a new member and have been reading some posts and looking at some pics. I have an '07 Black Cherry 4x4 and was looking at the Fab Four front bumper and was thinking about putting a Warn winch M8000. Does anyone have suggestions on this or any tips for fittings, accessories, etc.? I also was thinking about putting the black (TRD) mirrors, grills and handles or should I just paint it black. Thanks for any tips.

Re: Ready to mod my FJ. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum!!

Just to forewarn you, you'll be spending days (weeks?) just reading through the forum on ideas for modifications. The list is virtually endless.

But, take the time to get an idea of what other people with similar use of their FJ are doing. It could be anything from a simple swapping out of tires, to building a full-blown rigorous terrain trail rig. (Your desires and pocketbook will eventually meet halfway. )

As far as the black mirrors, door handles, etc. goes, it's really pretty easy to paint them yourself, as most of our members have already done. Again, check around to see how they accomplished it.

Anyway, start reading away. Ask a lot of questions. Make a lot of comments. And most importantly . . . have fun!!

Re: Ready to mod my FJ. Any suggestions?

I just bought mine about a month ago and basically I'm in the same situation as you. After reading through pages of posts on these forums as well as that "First $2000" thread FJNewb posted I decided to start at the bottom and work my way up.

First things I ordered were rear LCA's and skidplates. I wanted to get my undercarriage protected before I take it off road much.
