Re: Noise Coming From Front End When Turning Wheel

When you say you just bought it, is it still within the warranty period? There should be at least a 90 day grace on installed parts. At best I would hope so.

Re: Noise Coming From Front End When Turning Wheel

Hmm.....I see the Uniball Wagon has been hitched....

The control arms look new, where they installed along with the suspension?

IF so, the uniballs are not the source.

It look and sounds like you have identified the source so here are some threads on a similar problem:

https://www.fjcruiserforums.com/foru...umn-noise.html
https://www.fjcruiserforums.com/foru...ng-column.html

There are more threads on this but that should be a good start.

To help preserve the life of your uni-balls - when you are washing the FJ just give them a quick shot with the hose. It helps rinse the road grime off/out. From experience - only start lubing if and when they start making noise.

It also seems that you are missing the splash guards. Here is a ling to Rad Rubber for a replacement set, many forum members are running these and are happy with them:

Since no one else mentioned it, check your power steering fluid level as well. If that gets low, the pump will start to make a lot of noise.

I agree with the others though. It is most likely the uniball. I had a bad ball joint cause a horrible noise on the front end of my Tacoma as well.

I don't have personal experience with them, but I was considering them when I was looking

I dont think there was. Sucks! I was so excited to be in the truck I've been waiting for, and bought from a chevy dealership. I figured they'd be honest enough.

Yes, the splash guard had broken when all this happened. It was completely detached from the body. Thanks for the link. I need to replace them.
