If it makes you feel any better, I did not use a heat gun to remove the remaining mirror glass after mine broke. I believe, if I remember correctly, I just used a flat head screwdriver to push out some of the remaining pieces from the back (where the four slots are) and carefully used the same screwdriver to remove the other pieces from the front. Was not a big deal at all. Had one mirror removed and new one put in within 10 minutes. While you are in there, you might want to remove the diffusers if you have not done so already and add some amber lights to match your turn signals. Just a thought.
