Cell phone and car charger.

Water water water.

Dried food rations

Surviving, depends where you're going, what you're doing, on foot?

Re: Survival???

I have been in LAX for four hours now. I'm holding out Ok but I'm getting worried I won't make to my flight that was just delayed another hour. I have been keeping myself hydrated with Guinness from the Wolfgang Puck's.

I'd rather die in the desert and have my carcass eaten by Hila Monsters than have to listen to another woman yapping on her cell phone. People just don't know how meaningless and unworthy of conversation that their lives are.

Re: Survival???

Survival? You can do without:
O2 for 3 minutes
Water for 3 days
Food for 3 weeks
with ideal temps.
People have survived without food for > 2 months! Most Americans have a lot of reserve
In the desert you may need a gallon of water a day +. Search should go on for a week, at least. You will tend to call off a search in the desert way before you call one off in a temperate rain forrest.

As far as cell phones, why is it so earth shattering to talk about last nights American Idol, that you can't hang up long enough to order a cup of coffee. I HATE cell phone usage while in lines. I like the smoking rule-if you wouldn't smoke there, don't use your cell phone there.

Oh, yeah, this is the FJ forum.--I really don't like the black roof so much

You may be interested in this book: Amazon.com: SAS Survival Handbook: How to Survive in the Wild, in Any Climate, on Land or at Sea: Books: John Lofty Wiseman

Even if you never use any of the tips, it is still great reading material. There's also this thread:
