Give Us Diesel Toyota!

This is hoping that toyota people do read this site and that they will listen if we say it enough.

If you want to see toyota diesel engines in the FJ Cruiser, and other toyotas, chime in here. try to keep it brief, but give a couple reasons you would like to own a US Market Diesel Toyota, especially a FJ Cruiser or truck, to include truck -based SUVS.

Personally i think a diesel would be ideal in the compact 4x4 market, tons of torque, longevity, and better fuel economy. whats not to like?

A diesel would be my first choice. Better power curve for the FJ's purpose and better MPG.

I currently own a diesel Jetta and the FJ's only competition would be the rumored Wrangler diesel for 2007.

I'll Chime in.

Deisel sounds pretty cool. I have never had one but I understand the reliability and mileage are strong. If there were one available I would strongly consider it.

I would buy a diesel if they offered it! Especially with some banks aftermarket components on it!

Re: Give Us Diesel Toyota!

VW has succesfullly marketed their diesels, Jeep is doing well with the Liberty CRD, and needless to say the big three's diesels in the full size trucks are a hit.

They aren't the smoke belching clatter motors they used to be (you can even start them in the cold), give the consumers what they want.

Re: Give Us Diesel Toyota!

A Turbo-Diesel in an FJ? Now THAT would be an awesome 28 mpg torque monster! That would be my ULTIMATE FJ Cruiser. A 300,000 mile low maintenance engine with torque AND great fuel economy. I recently came back from Florida and was shocked at diesel fuel prices. Regular unleaded was $2.54, diesel fuel $3.52. OUCH!!!

Re: Give Us Diesel Toyota!

I would absolutely love a diesel.

And, by the way, I'd like it in orange.

Cheers,

Re: Give Us Diesel Toyota!

I wouldn't drive a Jeep if you gave it to me. Too many bleached blond dumbasses own them and if you want proof take a road tour of Vegas sometime. That and I have NEVER been impressed by anything Daimler Chrysler offered. Every dodge/chrysler/plymouth owner I have ever known has had nothing but problems with their equipment.

Now, Toyota on the other hand, seems to have figured out some time ago that we want to drive our vehicles, not work on them. Diesel or no diesel, I'm going with the FJ Cruiser. Now, if they were to offer a diesel that would certainly sweeten the deal, but I won't jump ship just because it runs on gas. Especially if they were sincere about the mileage. If I can get mid 20's pushing 31" tires, I will do a dance of joy.

Re: Give Us Diesel Toyota!

For those of you who may be interested - I know it's not orange, but still hot - I photochopped the ARB bumper onto the Yellow FJ from SEMA. Oh yeah, baby that's the way daddy likes it...
