TRD CAI and TRD Cat Back Exhaust

I am considering the purchase of the TRD CAI and the TRD Cat Back Exhaust from purefjcruiser.com. My question is does anyone know if there is another vendor selling these 2 items any cheaper. I would also like to know if anyone has placed these 2 particular matching components on their FJ with good results. I'm sure the installation of the CAI will be no problem. I am wondering however, if I will be able to install the TRD CAT Back Exhaust (myself) without having the rig up on a lift. I normally like to do all of my own work, but I'm wondering if I can pull off the installation of the exhaust in my garage without have the rig elevated to some degree?

This place would save you about $100. They are down the road from me.

Hey I'm considering the same thing....go to TRD Toyota/Scion Parts Accessories from Sparks Toyota/Scion and the TRD Exhaust and CAI with shipping is $754.97....at least to my location....it's the cheapest site I've found for these items. Let me know if you get them and how your FJ performs. I'm debating on the TRD Exhaust vs the Dual Borla Exhaust....same website. Hope this helps you decide.

Unless there's a deal for buying them together, you can save a few dollars by getting the AFE CAI. AFE makes the TRD intake, so it's really the same thing.

Try emailing [email protected] to see if there is a deal still out there. They might have the exhaust too. Or contact FJoel on the forum.

Re: TRD CAI and TRD Cat Back Exhaust

I have a TRD CAI and the TRD exhaust. It seems to have a little more "pep", especially at higher RPMs. My FJ came with the exhaust, and I added the intake about a year after I purchased it, so I did have the ability to make the comparison (with or without). The most noted difference is the sound. It sounds really good with the intake. As strange as this may sound, I was fine paying the money for the intake on the merit of the sound alone. It also seems like it affects the way it shifts (I have a 5 MT). When I have it on cruise it doesn't seem to shift to a lower gear on hills as quickly as it used to. It definately increased my MPGs, so that was a huge plus

I also learned that I could "haggle" with the parts department. I ended up paying $350 at the dealership with the justification that I wasn't paying for shipping, and I was purchasing it locally just in case there was an issue.

The instructions for the intake are really detailed with pictures and all. Even someone with minimal mechanical experience would have a decent shot at installing one of these.

As noted above, the same thing can be had cheaper, and I know I paid a premium just for the "TRD" logo, but for some reason I was hell bent on using "genuine" TRD parts.

Yeah, the official TRD stuff is what I'm after for the very same reason. I may talk to the "stealer" to see if I can get some kind of a deal as well. I'm not a real big fan of any ol' "aftermarket" stuff. In the back of my mind I know that the other non - TRD stuff is probably just as good or maybe better in some cases. I just kind of like stuff to match and feel that the FJ should have the TRD logo on the CAI and the Exhaust. I may be wasting a little more money but it's justified somewhere in the back of my mind.

As BSea stated, AFE makes the TRD CAI for Toyota, and it's cheaper.

If you do not know that anything "covered under warranty" has all to do with the dealership and very little to do with product.
