Upcoming Changes to the AutoGuide App

Hello,

We’re here to announce some changes to the Autoguide.com app. Firstly, we regret to say that Tapatalk is pulling its support of our branded Autoguide.com apps, both the free and paid versions. As a result no further updates for them will be released and they will no longer be available for download as of December 31st 2015. Sites that request it can be added to the main version of Tapatalk, but all app support will need to go through Tapatalk itself.

However, we can now announce that we have developed a brand new Autoguide App developed with a different company that we will be working very closely with. This will allow for issues to be addressed in a much timelier manner. The new app can be found here!

iOS:
AutoGuide Free (Autoguide.com) by AutoGuide.Com https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/autoguide-free-autoguide.com/id1000692627?mt=8

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...utoguide&hl=en

You’ll notice that there’s no paid version of this app. That’s because unlike the old app this one recognizes paid users on the site and is ad free for those groups!

Some other important features include:
Being able to switch freely between light and dark skins!
Being able to upload more than one picture at a time!
Instant push notifications for all of your subscriptions and PM’s
Regular updates directly through the site so you don’t have to search through the app store!
A new streamlined look for speed readers and posters!

We hope you enjoy this brand new app and we thank you for all the time you put in to the old!

As always we welcome your suggestions and issues, so please post them here!
Remember to include your device and operating system when you’re posting issues!

Thanks

Upcoming Changes to the AutoGuide App

IPhone 6 / iOS 9.1

Thoughts and observations on new app:

1. Links to other posts on the forum leave the app and go to the main forum page in Safari, not the post they are supposed to direct to (and don't stay in app, meaning you have to switch back to the app)

2. It would be cool if threads showed a "preview" of the first few lines of the most recent post, rather than original post in the thread. It's a little confusing, especially with threads with 14,000+ posts where the OP is 7+ years old

3. Swiping right to go back to previous page loads the top of the page, not where you left off on the page. Difficult if viewing a long list of threads - have to scroll back down to find where you were (and # 2 above makes it more difficult)

4. Message format is better in new version. I like seeing sent v. Inbox together better than a drop-down at the top to toggle between the two

I'm not averse to change, but I actually started using the current iteration of the Autoguide app on my phone because viewing the forum was so cumbersome through Safari. This new app looks and behaves almost EXACTLY like the Safari mobile version of the forum...

Feel free to PM me or reply here if you need more info/pics/etc

Re: Upcoming Changes to the AutoGuide App

Thank you for the heads up about posts opening in safari. We'll check that out. Preview of the most recent posts has been requested, though that behavior is based on site defaults.
Back function should cache where you are. Does the list jump or anything like that?

Thanks Kyle.

The back function looks like it is not doing anything for a few seconds, then when the page loads, it's back at the top

Back to the top, as in it doesn't remember where you last were?

~Sheena

That's correct, Sheena. Loads previous page I was on but doesn't remember where on the page I was. Immediately goes to the top of that previous page.

Re: Upcoming Changes to the AutoGuide App

We'll have to get them to look into the site caching so it remembers better. Thank you
