After a very wet and muddy hunting season, Achilles got all cleaned up and a Carnauba hand wax.

Upgraded the Tepui rooftop tent mounts on the OEM roof rack...
The ones provided by Tepui were fine, but given the chance I'll over-engineer just about anything ;-)

Re: What did you do TO your FJ Cruiser TODAY?

Replaced Sway bar bushing and my reverse sensors from China which of course did not work. But the plan was to to get new ones cuz the old one turned white and now it looks o.k. Fall back plan was to delete the button and install a rear view mirror dash cam with a camera on the back tire if this failed.

Can't budge the o2 sensor so its gonna be a couple days of heavy golden showers of wd40 before I tackle it again. May invest in a 7/8's o2 socket. Plan on cleaning it before investing in a new one.

Re: What did you do TO your FJ Cruiser TODAY?

Prototyping some mounting rails for my rooftop tent on the rhino pioneer platform...

I didnít see any commercially available options that fit my needs. I didnít want to drill into the base of the tent to adjust the location of the aluminum rails or drill into the roof rack. I also wanted the tent to mount as low as possible so here is what I came up with.

These are 1 5/8Ē stainless steel strut channel nuts with M8 x 1.25 threads that just happen to slide into the pioneer slots. You can get them online for couple of dollars each. I also use all stainless steel hardware.

I bought some steel C channels that are 2Ē wide and cut to 46Ē long. The aluminum rails under the tent just happen to fit in there. Just needed to drill some holes...

Technically last evening but still...I fixed my rear view "blue screen of death" issue for $21.

$425 or something stupid like that for a CAMERA???? Seriously, Toyota get a clue.

You might notice the image in the mirror is a little upside down. I spent quality time removing the teeny tiny little screws in the bracket and putting it all back together to make sure it was upside down apparently...eventually I got it right. It's soldered in, heat shrinked, taped and ziptied. Thanks racerrecchs for the info about how to wire it up!
Do you have a link or a writeup? I need to fix my camera as well.

It was like 15 minutes after I did cut an access hole.

I know most people wouldn't do it but I had a full tank of gas when the pump came in (Fairbanks, Alaska) and I dont really have rust but it bas been through a lot of mud and water and 11 years/200,000 miles so chances were some bolt or plastic connection isn't in the best shape to come out without a fight and if anything broke it usually isn't available up here in a timely manner. It's also my DD, so it made sense to me to simply make one more customization to the FJ
Did you take any pics? trying to get an idea of how big a hole I would need to cut. Did you use a cutoff wheel or ?

Re: What did you do TO your FJ Cruiser TODAY?

Yesterday a wash and wax. The weather was right. Today I cleaned the exterior side of the windows.

A neighbor told me that I was stupid, it's going to rain in a couple os days. I stated my opinion. Great, not only will there be a coat of wax so the water beads but rain water doesn't leave hard water spots so my ride will look better.

I just got a blank look.

Installed new speakers, Diode Dynamics Amber HP5 mirror lights and took diffusers out of the mirror lights. Then I gave the FJ a nice bath.
