Re: What did you do TO your FJ Cruiser TODAY?

That's what I was thinking when I mounted my super charger ltr in front of my radiator. The s/c is a low temp radiator but It still has to block some clean cooler air. Temp gauge doesn't seem to notice though.

The thermostat is still "in control" for 99% of situations. The only difference it may make is when you are already at or exceeding the cooling capacity of your system. It takes a lot for an FJ to do that and will pretty much only happen at low speeds w/ little air movement.

Then consider the trans fluid goes thru the main radiator as well so you are actually helping the overall system in that case.

Bro, you need a build thread! You have/had the ARB front? RESZ's are some of the best looking ones out there.
I have the Smittybilt, itís a solid bumper but Iím ready to grab something with hoops and the 2.5 is one of the baddest looking bumpers on the market. Besides if I decide to lose my bushwhackers this is the ticket.

As for a build thread I just donít have the time, I guess I could cobble together all of my mods from my threads and rip out all my posts from this thread because my photos are saved to the forum server so I can reuse them but itíll still take some time. If I started that I wouldnít have time to reflash my ECU with the Powergate tonight.

You buried the lead! Let us know how it goes with the ECU flash.

Itís still not reading the ECU, sent the user log back to Raptor to re-evaluate.

Installed a serious protection upgrade. Can you spot it?

If you would all please allow me a stupid question. ( I think we are allowed 1 a year). By putting in both coolers in front of the radiator, does it reduce the radiators capacity to perform at its optimal level???
Excellent observation! Yes it does reduce it somewhat but because the coolers arenít solid plate there is still air flow. Itís a compromise but well worth it. I know people who have nearly the entire rad face covered, but one of the items is usually a fan Also cutting down on grille badges helps a little...go with patches on the headliner instead

The short answer is Yes! Having said that, like Deb said, the least amount of clutter in front of the air openings, i.e, big bumpers, lights, winch & solenoid pack, grille badges, etc. You know, like the crap I have. The more CFM you can pull through them, such as bigger fan, more fans, etc, the better. Also, doing things to reduce underhood temps like keeping things out of the engine compartment help. Air compressors, AUX batteries, big air boxes, remote shock reservoirs, and even larger/thicker splash guards and fender flaps can contribute. Like Devon said, the thermostat is doing the bulk of keeping temps in the normal ranges but all the above are small contributors to heating things up. The best solution would be a fan that pulls more CFM than factory and/or keeping the additional coolers as far apart from each other as possible, as heat likes to gang up.
