Re: What did you do TO your FJ Cruiser TODAY?

Goin' back to 265's... Hope I still respect myself in the morning.

A few pics showing the difference 'without the 265's mounted' compared to 33x12.50's. and a pic of the mounted 33 vs unmounted 265 on the old bathroom scale. The 33 is 100lbs, 105- 106lbs with spare tire bracket and the 265 is 56lbs w/o rim. I'll weigh the mounted 265 tomorrow.

I'm hoping 265's on a 9" rim with -12mm offset look good.. I've piloted my Alaskan bush plane sounding Mudd Grapplers for years now and would like to go back to having open windows in the summer and not blasting the radio to 42 plus on the interstate going to work. I prided myself in liking noisy country boy mud tires but these things broke me. I only managed to wear them to about 50%, guessing 40 some thousand mi? Probably closer to the 50k side? Other than the noise and weight they were an awesome tire performed well and wearing amazingly!

Not yet... I'm also expecting some additional zip what with loosing over 1.5" tire width and around 18lbs per tire. I also have the spare off at the moment.

The thermostat is still "in control" for 99% of situations. The only difference it may make is when you are already at or exceeding the cooling capacity of your system. It takes a lot for an FJ to do that and will pretty much only happen at low speeds w/ little air movement.

Then consider the trans fluid goes thru the main radiator as well so you are actually helping the overall system in that case.
There is also the option of the big radiator used in the GCC (and I assume Australian/African) FJs.
There's part numbers and pics on here somewhere in a thread about electric fans by a member in Saudi.

There's also the larger all-aluminum CSF radiator, (which I run in mine now).
