@mikey So far been very happy with the performance! @monflores11 Wouldn't really know. Never owned the TRD brake package. They look great and for the price better perform like a boss! Just not in my budget and you can usually get the same quality without the name brand parts.

Living in the North and having nice things means an eternal battle with corrosion and prevention.

KINGS in the rear had a tough winter and were starting to corrode I opted for the following:
Nice, gonna look in to that setup. I need better tools - as you say its an ongoing battle not a one time thing.

I went through a TON of effort to paint parts of the frame and control arms a few years ago, but the rust is coming through the paint...thought my prep was good enough but I guess not. I think blasing is the only way to do it efficiently.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. -HST

Re: What did you do TO your FJ Cruiser TODAY?

In the last few weeks: installed the Trail Toys EZ View mirror on driver's side. Makes a HUGE difference in viewing area and safety. Also finally installed a stubby radio antenna in the hole in the cowl, just to fill the hole. The FJ still has no radio in it, but that is because the PO cut out all the plastic behind the bezel so he could install his custom mount iPad holder -- which did not come with the FJ when I bought it. Also prepped the wiring for the rear DB Customz light mounts.

Re: What did you do TO your FJ Cruiser TODAY?

I got into some thick earthy mud a few weeks ago and even though I've washed the FJ several times I keep getting lots of mud coming off the bottom of the FJ. Since I'm heading to Moab Before the Summit after work tomorrow I got the hose, a bucket, some soap, and a long handle scrub brush and scrubbed the hell out of the intake manifold, heads, engine block, transmission housing, front and rear diffs, and transfer case. I didn't want the mud coating to hold in the Moab heat and make me overheat. I also did my best to spray out the radiator and AC condenser. It's amazing how much mud I got out tonight after several previous washes. The whole driveway and the gutter in front of the house is covered in mud and gravel. It will probably be there the rest of the year.

I also got the rear fuse block and air compressor connected up. The ARB compressor really is a lot faster than my old Viar 450P compressor. I was surprised just how fast it was. I took my 285/75R17 tires from 32 to 40 psi in about a minute each, maybe a little less.

Re: What did you do TO your FJ Cruiser TODAY?

Today the velcro fabric arrived. I'm excited to get it attached tonight after work as well as finishing up painting the drawers. it seemed silly last night when I started painting them. they looked ok just plywood but after getting one drawer painted..... much nicer! When I get the fabric glued down (going to use gorilla glue spray, it works on ceiling paper so why not here?) and the edging on I think it'll look pretty slick. I can't decide if I want to pop rivet the edging or use screws. I think the pop rivets will be cooler but the screws will be easier. I think.
well, checked out the local stores on the internets and I'm using #8 x 3/4" self tapping screws people usually use for attaching mesh for stucco. I am quite sure there's someone out there who cares about this kind of info. Maybe. Probably not but I have to do something or I'm going to annoy the daylights out of coworkers.

ugh. another 2 hours or so. I guess I'm going to have to do something here.

Now that I have an idea how to do this, the next one I make will really look good.
