This was Flag Point Lookout Road on the East side of Mt Hood. There is an active Fire Lookout that you can hike to. Yeah after the hike we were hot so went to the snow, then back down to trillium Lake to let the dog swim.
Ever do Still Creek Rd up to Trillium? Just a nice drive, road crosses the creek 4 times (bridges). Not difficult, just an alternate way we go to get up there.

Re: What did you do WITH your FJ today, Take 2...

Went on a family camping trip to Green Valley Lake this past weekend for Father's day. Took the FJ out to explore beyond where we hiked and cut my teeth on my first real "wheeling" experience. My offroading is usually limited to fireroads and the beach. Anyways, I went on a short run called Edison Rd which got progressively more technical than I expected. I walked the obstacle areas, picked a line and tire placement, and went slow. I believe the Atrac activated in one spot. Didn't get a photo of the most challenging part of manuevering around a boulder with an off-camber approach while avoiding the large rut below. Too busy driving and passengers too worried about their own safety . We survived but the FJ took home a bunch of pinstripes . As a newb, I'm glad I did it but probably won't try that again flying solo.

Re: What did you do WITH your FJ today, Take 2...

Took the FJ to the coast. It was the longest drive I've taken it on since all the modding started in February.

The pics were taken at Goat Rock State Beach. There are only a few beaches in California that allow public vehicle access. Unfortunately, this is not one of them.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has caused all the damage to my FJ.

Re: What did you do WITH your FJ today, Take 2...

Accidentally went mudding. Let me explain!!!

Driving back to work after lunch I was passed by a bunch of first responders who blocked off my turn onto the road to where I work because there was an accident. So I kept going straight and turned on a dirt road that would spit me out right in front of my workplace. (road is non maintained and known to swallow trucks whole when it gets muddy.)

BUT, it suddenly started downpouring right before I got onto the non maintenanced part and by the time I got to the end the FJ was sliding sideways in the mud.

And that ladies and gentlemen is how a 5 minute commute gets turned into an adventure!

Re: What did you do WITH your FJ today, Take 2...

I accidentally took mine 4 wheeling also.

I took the pooch out to run in the desert, plus I had a couple of things to do out there. I knew a T-storm was coming and wondered if I could beat it. The answer was NO!!!! I saw a dozen lightning bolts on the drive out. After a few minutes the thunder was getting real. We both get in and watch. I was wishing that I had some REO Speedwagon to help me ride the storm out. The nearest lightning strike was 500 feet. It hit the electric lines or a pole that I was near. I was under the protective "cone" so was okay.

The wind was howling and the rain pouring. It finally ended and I got out of the passengers side to walk to the other side. Mistake. The earth here is clay like. One step and I had 5 pounds of stuff stuck to my shoes. Leaving the area that we go it's a bit off camber. It was trying to slide into the ditch but I managed. The tires don't self clean that stuff. If there had been an issue I would have turned slightly and driven into the ditch at the correct angle.

Got home and left my shoes outside. I sprayed it down and got most of the gunk out. You know those areas at the bottom of the fender flairs and inner fender well that it takes 5 minutes of spraying to clean? I'm going to do what someone suggested a while back. Plant an herb garden in there so when I go camping I'll have some.
