Re: Parking lot pics please!!

Lol..I know what you mean by the 'thought I was special' part..I live in a town of 2600, I thought I was the only FJ, in any colour, then I would see another black one in town every now and then. The person, who I believe is an older woman, must work in town but live out of town. She seems friendly because when I first seen that FJ drive by me, we gave each other a wave and a grin.

I noticed that my FJ sits higher than that one, unless she's running larger tires because I have a bigger gap in my wheel wells. Her tires don't look bigger though. AFAIK, mine has a stock suspension setup. I wonder if I can get away with 285 tires with no lift. I want to buy a set of winter tires but not sure what size to get.

No you can't run 285's without a lift - You'll need 2", but shouldn't need a BMC or aftermarket UCA.
I run Cooper AT3s with Ironman FoamCell Pro suspension - looks great, awesome on & off road.

Speak to @Vegas_Nick about the suspension & @FJMatt about the tires in snow (Only snow here is indoors).

I'm hacking... I know...

Just quickly want to say that the AT3s are very very good in snow for an AT tire. If you are able to run two sets of tires, get some Nokians for the winter... I have mine on right now.
I will be sadly getting rid of my AT3s in that most of my summer wheeling is in mud and rocky climbs/ledges so I need a more aggressive tire. I am also going to get LT ones this time. The Cooper's have a tough time keeping up with my buddies mud tires...

You can run 285 width tires but it will depend on the aspect ratio, size of wheel, and back spacing. I have a friend that is running 285/75/16s on TT wheels, and he does not have a lift or BMC.

Here is a link on this forum regarding 285/75/16s on a stock rig.

Re: Parking lot pics please!!

Thanks for the replies guys. I think from past experience with all seasons vs winter tires, I'll be going with a winter tire. The top contender is still a Blizzak, but there's a Firestone winter tire for trucks, that had wider gaps between the lugs, which would work well when digging down to the dirt below the snow, but the compound is slightly harder.

I'd like to stuff a 33 in there, I just came back from the valley. I did a quick articulation test in a deeply grooved ditch. I I balanced it on 2 corner wheels, and checked my clearance up front as I moved my steering through its range. I have at least a 1/2" of clearance up front when balancing on 2 wheels. It might be possible..

Re: Parking lot pics please!!

I've run Blizzaks the last 3 winters here in Indiana and I love them. Mine are stock sized as I picked them up used already mounted on stock FJ wheels.
