Re: Things I learned today

Yesterday I learned that you can upgrade your inner and outer Tie Rods with Prada 150s Our FJs are based on the Prada 120 . So a 2010 and up 4 runner uses the 150 tie rods . The 150s are thicker in the threaded area where our tie rods are prone to bend . I also learned that Toyota is kinda proud of these. But now i can swap out my olds and keep them for spares .

No FJs are based off the 120 . the 2010 and newer 4 runner is based off the 150 . Metal Tech just put up a nice Video of it and explains this .

Underneath the skin, FJC 07-09 is a Prado 120
FJC 10+ is a Prado 150

All FJs look the same on the outside, but in MY10 they switched to different engines, chassis & suspension to follow the Prado.

Re: Things I learned today

Last night on the way home from work, in the rain and on the streets, I learned something exciting while exercising the front axle. From a stop, turning left across traffic, I can get into a 4 wheel drift for a moment if I floor it to make the turn. Then, when letting off of the gas, the FJ will obediently go in the direction the front wheels are pointed. That was the exciting part for me and the people in the other car...
I am of the opinion there's quite enough "umph" in the 4.0l and I don't need a supercharger. Much respect for a bone stock TTSE.

What doesn't kill me makes me more cynical.
