The tech explained that on the group 31 AGM it wouldnít be able to fully recover from a deep discharge and that would compromise the long term life expectancy of their batteries. I was told incomplete conditioning after a few deep discharges could effectively cut the life expectancy in half from 9-12 years to 4-6 years. Iím gonna grab a Powermania Turbo 30 amp I believe, Iíve got an Odyssey on two vehicles so I think itís good investment.
Mine is Group 34 - would that change anything?

Interesting. So the charging state would change to floating / maintenance prematurely? I wonder if the low amp chargers are also known for issues? It seems like a mixed bag of reviews but can't take everything at face value on reviews. Mostly positive reviews for the 3.5 amp model. I'm hoping the 7.5 will do the job to recover some old batteries and maintain my new one.

I'm sure @Thorn661 was referring to the noco charger issue. But this is a quick charging high amperage model that was the issue. No mention of the lower amp charger having the same issue.

Only in the amperage needed to condition and bring it back to factory specs. My 31ís really need 30-40 amps to get it right if you bring one down to 80% depth, thereís a chart that shows depth of discharge for reference that comes with an Odyssey as well.

Yes thatís right the NOCO goes to float too soon and amperage isnít sufficient to condition the battery, just maintains voltage at a low amp state. This isnít a big deal if you donít have a deep discharge but if you periodically take it down to 50% or 75% like I do with the fridge it needs those amps to bring it back.

That would be a concern because of the abilities of an AGM are of power starting and repeated deep cycle use. I probably won't have to worry as a fridge isn't in my future anytime soon but definitely a concern if the charger isn't doing what it's supposed to do. Can a low amp not charge your group 31?

Ouch. What happened? Looks like you hit something with fur! Time for a bumper upgrade?

If not, I might very soon have an intact OEM bumper cover to sell.

A very pretty, but very dumb buck. Luckily it happened @ 35-40mph, narrow, wooded road at night, happened quick. Sad that he survived a few hunting seasons only to run into my bumper. He barrel-rolled into the ditch & then took off, it was a solid hit though. Would've been nice to have some freezer meat in exchange for the damage he caused...

My dad owns a bodyshop, I was able to get the parts pretty cheap. Thanks though!
