Re: What did you buy today (FJ related items)?

I ordered 80 mil and 170 mil sound deadening material Monday and it showed up today. This weekend Iím going to attempt to pull the headliner and double coat the roof, I mulled over my options on wind noise and decided this is the easiest route given a custom fabbed and fitted air dam would take considerably longer to perfect and even then it could still be loud.

Re: What did you buy today (FJ related items)?

I bought a real alignment for my FJ. The same old story is that you have to find a good alignment shop that does lifted trucks. Tom's Automotive in Long Beach is the place. Melvin got my truck to track straight and stable. I have a 3" Bilstein 5100 and Eibach lift without aftermarket UCA's. I know, if your serious you want new UCA's but this truck will be on the highway most of the time. I had many bad experiences with aftermarket UCA's. This works well with my stock UCA's:

Before:
L - Camber 0.2
R - Camber 0.3
L - Caster 0.9
R - Caster 0.5
L - Toe -0.02
R - Toe 0.02

After:
L - Camber 0.1
R - Camber 0.1
L - Caster 2.0
R - Caster 2.2
L - Toe 0.06
R - Toe 0.03

Thanks for sharing info on that shop. I got an alignment at Big O the other day. I have an OME lift and stock UCAs. Only the caster is slightly out of spec.

I originally brought it in because I developed an annoying front end clunk after a trip to the mountains a couple weeks ago. Supposedly all the suspension components are tight but the clunk is still there. I've crawled underneath numerous times and am researching all the posts on the topic. Will share what I find.....if I ever do.

Re: What did you buy today (FJ related items)?

Ordered a new model Gastapper for transferring fuel from the 5 gal cans to the FJ. Twice the flow, 1.2 gal/min vs the old one 0.6 gal/min.

Other than the ice chest, the most used item I carry around in the back of the FJ. Only thing I'm worried about, says a larger case, the old one fit perfectly in the mole bag. I'll check dimensions later today.

https://www.gastapper.com/store/p27/...48_States.html

The old one will go to my son and grandson for their motorcycles.

The new Gastapper ^^^ came in today. It is a lot larger than I was expecting. Can't put in the mole case, I'll just put the lithium jump starter in there.

Re: What did you buy today (FJ related items)?

Had to get a new tire. The BFG all terrain that was taken off make the mechanic say ďDamn! This is about to blow.Ē
Separation and tearing. And I havenít even done anything yet! Well, not really anything. Just the normal medians, curbs, piles of bricks, watery mud and cow patties.
Not as much fun as getting a CB or window opener but a lot more fun than a blow out at speed.
