what are they usung down under for rear recovery points on the fj?
G'Day Stephen,
Mostly, the rear tow hitch. unless you haver a rear bar with shackle mounts....which are ok on the rear, but due to our brake light / indicator setup and number plate location...most dont have a rear bar...so tow hitch is used.
The front RP's won't work in the rear....
@Iconic_ did produce a limited set of rear RP's ...but these are long gone....
Cheers

I like those! But I'm not wild about $80-something shipping to the US! Does anyone know of a US vendor for something similar?

Gday TT,
ARB is probably your best bet....they do their version as well, from memory...same thing..just a little more expensive...being ARB.

The cost of shipping them to the US is still less than paying for the ARB ones already in the US.

I was going to order a pair until i saw the shipping cost. I might just take a caliper and measure the distance between the bolts and cut out a few
test pieces until I get the right cutouts and shape. I have a water-jet so they wont take long maybe 2 mins each.

I just have to find some 3/4 inch plate to cut up

Guys, I can cut some of those out on my cnc plasma for cheap. I can measure later and draw one up. What thickness are we thinking? 3/8"? 1/2"?

The ones specs here on page one use 1/2 thick plate I was going to go 3/4 or whatever I had laying around my shop. once we have the bolt distances measured its a joke to make
10 mins of drawings it in CAD 5 mins of actual cutting. I have a busy afternoon but might try and take the measurements tonight but lots of snow here so it might have to sleep in the garage in order to dry up first

Re: Crazy idea !!! recovery points with stock bumper

G'Day,
Another economy option is to make your own/buy 3 x soft shackles, and a bridle....and use the OE tie down points.
In most cases this would be strong enough for most recoveries....

Cheers
