Re: Another Jerrycan Mount Option

@Hannibal I feel like these (2) threads can be merged... good info on both of them

Re: Another Jerrycan Mount Option

Anybody have any experience with this in action. Did you run into any issues with durability or any shifting with the weight of full cans and bumpiness with off-roading?

Re: Another Jerrycan Mount Option

Had not seen this option before, pretty good idea. Would you get back to us after having it mounted while doing some "energetic" 4 wheeling?

I have a similar ratcheting spare tire mount for Rotopax. Sometimes I carry just gas, sometimes I add a 2 gal water can on the other side by the Baja ladder. I believe it is something like a CAM R.U.T./Rockslide/Rotopax branded accessory out of Colorado ($99?). I have driven from SoCal to Yellowstone, Ozarks, and to Mount Rushmore without any door issues or strap loosening. These trips included moderate offroad trails in Moab, Colorado, Arizona, and other places along the way.

I have the same setup with a can on each side. I also use a security cable to secure the cans to my spare tire. It gives me piece of mind in case the strap happens to come loose or if someone tries to steal the cans by cutting the strap.

or deflating the spare tire? Then they could get the whole setup. That's what I worry most. Security cable helps though.

Good point about the tire. I do use a thick steel cable that attaches to the ratchet, tire, and ladder. I only use it when I go traveling far from home or offroading in desolate areas anyway.
