Not too scary, I'm from MN, that's nothing.

The rust doesn’t seem like a big deal.

This, on the other hand, I’m a little concerned LOL

Surface rust. Pull any nuts and clean the threads well. The remainder looks easily removed.

Hey everyone,
I used to have an FJ and looking to buy another one. I have found one that is really nice EXCEPT the rust underneath. It has spent a few years at the beach. I need some expert opinions on how bad yall think it is. Would you be scared to buy this one?
i dont think its a big problem. what did you end up doing?

Nope, not scary at all.

Every time I see that in a movie, stuff blows up. Stop that behavior!

I once lived near a beach in California near San Francisco. Some of my neighbors cars were rusting just being near the water. The rust would bubble up from under the paint. Personally I would be very cautious if the FJ did some wave smashing. It’s not the rust you see that’s the problem.

Re: Would you be scared of this?

I'm pretty happy to hear everyone's reply, mines was sort of similar when I bought it, maybe not as bad but pretty close to those images. I never got around to cleaning it off but I Fluid Filmed the **** out of it and it's been looking glossy ever since, probably time to do another coat actually just in case.

Re: Would you be scared of this?

OMG, That's nothing. Give it a couple of winters with Wisconsin road salt and that'll be like it was show room new. The quickness in witch the frame rust out on a FJ is alarming. ( Toyota did a **** job of protecting the frame from corrosion.

Re: Would you be scared of this?

Nope. Clean with wire brush. Spray a couple generous coats of rust paint and apply a rust inhibitor after (Fluid film/Krown/Corrosion Free 3000).
