Except - that would be abuse of their powers and outside the scope of their "job" here on the forum.

It is not for any of us - mods included - to decide if a topic has been discussed too much and has been enough already.

If, as a reader and participant in this forum, you feel that a topic has run its course - opt out and don't participate in the conversation. You have the choice to "not read" any more about it.

Re: So here's what they said at the AutoShow

its all about supply and demand. For toyota, it would also be SALES and PROFITABILITY.

the FJ is clear not a best seller compared to Prius or 40+mpg cars. I was actually looking forward as to what the next gen Fj would look like.

Which is why I'm not and don't plan to be a moderator.

Re: So here's what they said at the AutoShow

While I dont put much stock in speculation, I have mixed emotions. I think the FJ is a great vehicle that is why we all own them. I also think the Land Rover Defender 90 is a great vehicle. The last time I checked, which is very often, you cannot buy a new one in the states and good used ones are just as much or more expensive then when offered new.

Now while I dont want to see the FJ go away, I do know that a lower production number makes a car more rare. So, how awesome would it be to stop the depreciation on our vehicles and possibly have a low production collectable.

Re: So here's what they said at the AutoShow

There actually have been quite a few credible sources on the production stop and the last year being 2010. So that is not just sales guys talking. I am not sure which post but there were a few industry articles that confirmed this news.

The rumor mill began sometime last spring, I think.

Limited production..hmm if you consider over 100,000 already sold limited.

Now with that said, gas prices are down again and maybe it will be like the beetle where they just keep making a smaller number for a few extra years..

I have heard that these are more profitable to produce then the Prius. Because they can't really charge for what the Prius costs to make..I am not sure I believe that rumor.
