Re: Pleased over the sinking seat issue...

I took my FJ in to Champion Toyota of Corpus Christi yesterday for the sinking seat... with 35,194 miles on the OD. I found the TSB somewhere online and printed a copy to take with me. They kept my truck all day and when I called at 5:30 pm, it took them forever to tell me something. They decided to replace the seat, but they were hesitant to tell me that it would be a week or two and they were unsure what to do about it in the meantime. When I told them I could manage until then, they sounded relieved. I think they thought I was going to demand a free loaner car or something. It might be fun taking a loaner Yaris to the Jambo, but I think I will deal with a sinking seat for a couple of weeks.

Re: Pleased over the sinking seat issue...

My dealership (Champion in Corpus Christi) can't get their crap together. I dropped my FJ off at 7:40 this morning. They offered to shuttle me, so I took it. I got to work at 9:10. Ok, so I'm 40 minutes late because it takes 90 minutes to get me the 12 minutes down the road. Whatever. Then I get a call around 1:30... bad news. The guy that does that kind of work had so much work at another dealer that he couldn't even make it to this dealer today. I'm pretty sure it's something like 4 bolts and a plug, so I can see how it would take a specialist to do it. I'll have it in there at 7:30 tomorrow, but I'm getting a coworker that lives near the dealership to give me a ride to work this time.

So they WILL fix a TSB even if you're over the 36,000 miles? Mine has been sinking...

Just to clear up any confusion out there since there was some chatter on other similar threads about whether or not this issue would be covered under the extended warranty.

The TSB IS covered under the extended warranty (7yr/100K mi.). Based on the information I gathered on this forum regarding this issue, I made an appolntment with my dealer to have them check it out (along with some routine maintainance) last saturday. The service manager listened to the issue I was having with the seat, looked it up and said, "no problem, it's covered under my extended warranty. Glad you had it, 'cause it's about $3K to get it replaced since you have air bags."

The parts on order and I should get it replaced next week. And for the record, I purchased my FJ new in 4/06 and I'm just about to crest 50,000 mi.

'07 FJ, VooDoo Blue, M/T6...mostly stock but beginning its metamorphosis into a expedition worthy rig.

Re: Pleased over the sinking seat issue...

I got a call earlier... it's done!

Edit: Ok, so I go pick up my car and it takes a while to get it because everyone that works at the dealership is spending all day answering calls related to the gas pedal thing...

"No, ma'am. Your VIN starts with a J. That means your vehicle is ok. No ma'am, we don't need you to bring it in. No ma'am. No ma'am. Well yours was made in Japan, which means it isn't affected. No ma'am. They made your car right ma'am. No ma'am. Thank you ma'am. Good bye."

I picked up my truck and left. The invoice they gave me had over $3,000 in parts on it. Thank God for warranty... otherwise I would be rocking a $400 Corbeau seat in the near future.

The dealership had my truck for 3 full days to get it done, but I have a new seat now.
